Bent Tree Golf Course
Posted on 23/10/2008 19:38
It was 43 degrees this morning and a brisk wind out of the N.E. at around 12 mph. What we all thought when we started is that some one in the group.I wont mention any names, but his initials are SC was out of their mind wearing a pair of shorts! It turns out by the time we were finished it was a nice 64 degrees and a slight wind, he was the smart one having on the shorts! He's not just another "pretty face" ya know!!!! Anyway……….Bent Tree is a very nice track. Every hole is a different layout, and every hole has it's share of bunkers, ask any one of us! Clean fairways and somewhat receptive greens that putted nicely. Water comes in play on several holes too, so between the beaches, ponds, and creek you needed to keep your ball in play. 3 in the group today has played there before, and the rest of us would like to return when the season is at it's best. 8 skins paid out this week………….singles going to Bill A, Ben S, and Steve C, 2 for Bill H, then 3 to Tim H. Thanks guys for coming today, even though it was a small group we had a good time! Hawthorne Hills has been scratched next week and in it's place will be going to Cherokee Hills in Bellfontaine Ohio on Friday October 30th.. It is our last league play of the year as far as handicaps go. We'll continue to play as long as the weather holds out, until then "keep it in the short grass…………….man. LOL!!!!!!!!
Maumee Bay Resort Golf Club

A light breeze this morning as we teed off at 9:30 with the temp not quite 70 degrees. A cold front moved through and the temp dropped casuing the wind to really blow our balls around for a few holes. 8 of us played today including Pam Huff. Maumee Bay is still a links style course with mild rolling fairways and teired greens which were somewhat slick but putted what you read. Ponds came into play almost every hole with bunkers on fairways and green side also. 8 skins were paid out today……, 2 for Norm N and Steve C, and 3 won by Me!!!! Next week on Thursday October 23rd we are traveling to Sunbury Ohio to Bent Tree. We'll be meeting at Southend Restaurant at 8:10. See you there. Until then….."keep it in the short grass"!

Thanks to Dave's new GPS Mio we arrived at the course in one piece and on time today. There was a bit of a chill thismorning teeing off but shortly after we started the sun broke through the clouds and it became a gorgeous day. Over all the course was in decent shape, including the greens. We had 12 players today for 18 holes and 8 of us stayed for another 9 and played a scramble. Shortly after we finished, the big man looking over us unleashed the heavens and thought we needed some rain. 5 skins were payed out this week all singles going to…Dan D, Marv H, Myself, Norm N, and Bill A. We also had a $5.00 bet per man on the scramble which the team of Otis,Don,Norm and Ben won with a 31 and the opposing team Bill,Tony,Dave and Marv shot a 32. Next week the league is off due to our annual fall Saltfork State Park trip on the 6th and 7th. The following 14th league travels to Maumee Bay. Until then……."keep it in the short grass"!

We had 3 foursomes tee it up today, and 6 skins were payed out. 1 each going to Ed K, Eric C, Norm N, Dave L, and 2 skins going to yours truly! Next week we are playing Valley View in Galion Ohio on Friday September 12th. I'll post when and where when I hear from Otis! Until then guys…………"keep it in the short grass"!

It started out cloudy and 64 degrees at our first tee time today and gradually warmed up to 74 degrees and stayed cloudy. We had very little wind today if any at all. We seen water being applied all day to different areas of the course for good reasons. Fairways and the greens were in good shape but if you got in the rough………..big time hard pan!!! 11 showed today and of the 11, only 3 skins were paid out. All going to Steve C, Eric C, and myself. Colonial next Thursday September 4th, I'll try to post times and location ASAP. Until then……….."Keep it in the short grass"!
Eagle Creek Golf Club
Posted on 20/08/2008 21:02
Getting there was a challenge this time, well……………just lots of left and right turns through the boonies! Although the reverse directions we had proved to be a better way back to Findlay. Eagle Creek played tough, but most of the scoring showed that lots of the guys played the course very well. I did hear that one of the guys made a donation to the pond off of number 5 green, and I wont mention any names!!!! LOL 9 skins were paid out this week, 2 went to Dave L, Norm N, Steve C, and Eric C took 3 skins. Next week Thursday August 28th Rivery Hills near Waterville Ohio on the Maumee River. See you there!!!!

What a great course to play!……….12 of us played this Saltfork style course today, tucked in the hills of mid Ohio. We couldn't of asked for nicer day to play, although we did drive through a little shower on the way back to Findlay. Everyone seemed to of had a good time. "Otis" was low man with an 89, congrats to him on a tough course. 8 Skins were paid out this week and Bill Huff took the #1 spot with 3 skins. Followed by Ben S with 2, then Marv,Bill A, Steve, Kiwi and yours truly all with 1 skin. Next week over to Kalida Ohio to play Country Acres on Monday August 11th. As usual I'll post all the details when I receive them. Until then…………."Keep them in the short grass"!!!!!
Whetstone Golf Course
Posted on 10/07/2008 18:50
What can I say about Whetstone, $20.00 for 18 holes and a cart add $7.00 more and you get to play 27 holes, and that's exactly what we did today. The course looks really great and are now adding paved cart paths tee to green on all holes if not most of them. You got a nice lie in the fairways if you found them, and the greens were putting very nicely. 6 skins were paid out, 2 going to Bill H, and Eric C and singles went to Marv H, and Otis Cramer our PGA Professional! Thanks to all who played today, next week we'll be going to Tree Links near Bellefontaine Ohio. As a reminder we switched the Legacy to Colonials date and vice versa. I'll post info for Tree Links when I get it from Otis.

Bedford Hills is looking "SWEET"!
Posted on 24/06/2008 20:38
Seven of us trecked up to Bedford Hills today and the course was in the best shape I've seen the last 10 years of going up there. The fairways were beautiful and the greens flawless, and putted true to what you read. 6 skins were paid out………4 going to Eric and Steve had the other 2. Next week Sycamore Springs Wednesday July 2nd, I'll post details as soon as I get tee times set up.
