Captain of the SocietyPosted on 09/02/2008 10:22I think you will all agree that it is a great benifit to have somebody to keep us informed about whats going on, remind us about upcoming events, and do the unsavoury job of chasing people up for subs, deposits etc. This Is a Job That we will elect someone to in the future in order to give anyone that is interested the opportunity to get involved, however as this season is already underway and we need someone to gee us all up now Paul Simmons has agreed to be our first Captain. I think you will all agree that Paul will make an exellent captain as he was insrumental in getting us started in the first place with his ifectious enthusiam.
Membership Subscription/HandicapsPosted on 02/02/2008 13:19Hello everyone, I hope you are all looking forward to this years Golf. This year as I am sure you will have heard we will be competing for large annual trophies that will be held for one year and then returned and replaced with a smaller trophy to keep at an annual prize giving to be held at the first event of 2009. Because these trophies have considerable value, only members that have completed in full a membership application form (available from Adam Baterip tel 07812107938) and paid the annual subscription of £20 will be elligable to win trophies. Guests and members that have not paid their subs will still be able to play and will be recognised at the prize giving if they are placed, but trophies will be awarded only to paid up members. There will be a grace period of one event given to established members (those who attended at least three events last year) but as of the second event, those that have not fulfiled membership criteria will not be elligable to win trophies.
I in order to ensure fair play, new members will be required to prove their handicaps, either by producing a recognised handicap certificate or by playing three events with Swaylands Golf Society before they will be elligable to win trophies, exeptions may be made for those that played with us last year and for others that are well known to the commitee, only on the unanimous decision of the committee. (Chris Grainge,Adam Baterip,Sean Painter)
Once again I hope that you are all looking forward to this years golf as much as me and that you all understand the need for these changes and the need to formalise membership for the good of the society.
As always, good golfing.
Regards Chris Grainge
